Denise Ford

A unique artist working on on low fire lead free ceramics, Denise Ford is known for her bold designs and textural, colorful paintings on functional ceramics.

 

"I was born in Harlem, NYC in 1951. Moved to California when I was 3. Graduated high school 1969. Attended Laguna Beach School of Art for 4 years now known as Laguna College of Art.I studied life drawing and sculpture with Lewis Cohen. My first showing was Hillcrest Fine Arts in La Habra. I won first prize for my sculpture of a Wodaabe Tribesman. It was juried by the curator of the Folk and Craft Museum in Los Angeles.

 

In turning to ceramic decoration in 1984, a career started to form. It has been a 38 year venture. Working with color and form has given me an amazing outlet to fulfill my life’s work.

 

The list of galleries that have represented my work in the US, Canada, the Virgin Islands, England and Japan is extensive. It includes over 200 galleries, stores and museum shops over the course of my career."
