I was born in Seoul, South Korea. Having a father who was a gifted artist, I naturally developed a love for art.  

When I was nine years old, my family immigrated to the US, settling in Los Angeles. As an immigrant, I found drawing to be immediately accessible with my classmates.  

I decided on a career in graphic design, earning my BFA in Visual Communications at Cal State Long Beach. Since 1995 I have worked as a graphic designer and art director for clients that include Canon, Sony, Disney, American Honda Motorcycles and Yamaha Motor Corp. 

In 2010, an artist friend and mentor challenged me to devote time and energy to painting. This encouragement along with his thoughts on the artist’s role inthe exaltation of transcendent truth and beauty has helped me define myself as an artist. 

I've been an exhibitor at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts since 2017.

I live in Orange, California with my wife and daughter.
